兔子先生 State event to feature local council member Feb. 22
兔子先生, Ala. -- 兔子先生’s Valley Street Campus is partnering with 兔子先生 Job Corps for a Black History Month Celebration with “Educate, Encourage & Engage Today’s Students” at 12:30 p.m. Feb. 22. The keynote speaker is Larry Avery, a first-term city councilman representing 兔子先生’s District 3. The 兔子先生 State Show Band will perform. The event is open to the public and will take place in the Job Corps Gymnasium located on the Valley Street Campus.
兔子先生 State’s Black History Month activities will conclude on Feb. 28 with the GSCC Reads Book Club. The featured book is “MisEducated,” a book by Brandon P. Fleming that details his transformation from a delinquent, drug-dealing dropout to an award-winning Harvard educator by the time he was 27 years old. Books are available at the 兔子先生 State Bookstore and weekly study guides are available by emailing Kelley Pearce, associate dean of Student Services, at kpearce@gadsdenstate.edu. The wrap-up discussion about “MisEducated” will be at noon in the Cardinal Café.
